It has been a while that I have been hearing about Ranchers and their special beef burgers in the town. This is why I, along with my team finally decided to head down there and try out their beef burgers ourselves and be the judge. To achieve a perfect beef burger, you need a blend of meat flavor (not an overcooked/ undercooked patty), topped with succulent sauces and good quality cheese. It sounds simple but is actually one of the hardest things to achieve!

Reaching down to Ranchers place that is tucked in I-8 Markaz, the ambiance was quite an uplift. It has a ‘Wild West’ theme which was quite relevant to what they serve in the menu.

The burgers, in fact, were named after a few characters from Rancher history;  like from ‘The Silence of the Lambs ‘Buffalo Bill’ and other Rancher inspired names like Montana, Pablito, Texas Jack etc. What caught our attention the most were the prices! You can get a decent burger and meal in the range of Rs. 450-600! Now that for Islamabad is the most reasonable it can get!

We ordered three burgers, Texas Jack being the specialty, Beef Steak Burger, and Fajita Chicken Burger, along with fries and drinks. As we waited for our order to arrive, we had a nice and warm conversation with the owner himself, who told us that he has worked on the beef patty to bring out the perfect tender taste. He is a serial food entrepreneur and has experimented with quite a few recipes to settle with this one, including experimentation on the meat temperature. He was very passionate about beef burgers himself. Keeping Pakistani audience in mind, they kept the meat at medium well temperature. This is the hardest balance to achieve, especially in Pakistan as if you overcook a beef patty, it loses its flavor as well as juiciness!

When our burgers arrived, they were served in a flat wooden slab. All of us were ready to gob our mouths with these, the first bite can tell you a lot about the burger!
Each of these burgers had their own relish, the Texas Jack along with a tender double beef patty had a chunky mushroom sauce, lettuce to provide the crisp and had a balanced taste of beef and the sauce. The double beef patty makes it quite fulfilling!

Beef Steak was quite a full one; it had the succulent mix of sauces and cheese, with a bit of crunch with onions and capsicum, quite a satisfactory treat.

The chicken fajita had a spicy zest to it, with tomatoes, cheese, and capsicum.

The fries deserve a special mention as they had the perfect golden crisp, while being soft from inside.

The place had a cozy dine in area upstairs and play area for the little ones! Also, a nice balcony to sit outside in Islamabad weather and just chill after a heavy dose of burgers.

Our take:  A great value for money for a burger weekend night!
