What’s that one thing in the refrigerator that doesn’t let you sleep peacefully till you’ve finished it? Yup, you guessed it – Nutella!
From your very first taste of this heavenly creation of man, you just cannot put it down (by the way, did you know that Nutella was created due to a shortage of cocoa during World War II?).
We all have our ‘Nutella moments’; dipping our fingers into the jar to scoop out the last bits, or finding new breads to spread it across for a midnight snack. Whole diets are ruined and resolutions broken due to this delicious little jar. But hey, you don’t hear anyone complaining do you?
Well I’m delighted to tell you that there’s good news for Nutella lovers in Islamabad. A small food joint in F-11 Markaz is fulfilling all your Nutella desires in an incredible way – by dedicating an entire menu to it! We are of course referring to – *drumroll* – The Nutella Spot. We couldn’t think of a better name for a place dedicated to celebrating and spreading the Nutella love.
The Nutella Spot is located very prominently on the main road through F-11 Markaz. Driving on the main boulevard, you can’t miss the sign with that familiar logo that will have you swerving the car next to it. Then you’ll proceed up the stairs to see this:
Beautiful, isn’t it? It’s all about Nutella here, as far as the eye can see! The place has a great feeling to it, and just the right atmosphere. As co-owners Saqib and Rimmel put it: “We designed this place ourselves, keeping every aspect in mind from the counter top to the live baking station.” These two also share a love for cooking cooking and baking. Now we know where the awesome menu comes from; these are true food entrepreneurs folks!
“I have lived in the US for a very long time, and wanted to bring the food standards I experienced there to Pakistan. Being a Nutella lover myself, the inspiration and motivation to open up this place wasn’t that hard to find,” Saqib explained.
What we loved the most about the place was the live baking station. Yes, at The Nutella Spot, everything is baked right in front of you. All concerns regarding hygeine are cast aside as your meal is assembled right in front of you.
“I could have put up barriers between the customers and the assembly area and baking station, but I chose not to. I wanted to introduce the concept of live baking in Pakistan, and keep that relationship of affection with the customers,” Rimmel told us.
Of course, things aren’t always easy for food entrepreneurs in Pakistan. As Rimmel and Saqib told us, they had take care of everything from setting up power connections to building the drainage system for their eatery, as the rented space had no such facilities.
All said and done, we’re glad Saqib and Rimmel stood their ground and opened this place. Nutella lovers from all over Islamabad are thanking them at this very moment, we’re sure of it.
From the Nutella jars and quirky sayings on the walls to the chalkboard menu, the space has been designed perfectly. Here’s a look at their great menu:
Ever heard of Nutella Pizza? Well, these guys have it. It’s topped with Kiwi and bananas, and I must say, the refreshing combination will blows your taste buds away. Don’t worry, they always ask if you want the Kiwi (in case you don’t).
The Nutella Crepes were also something your taste buds will remember long after finishing them. The crepes are made to perfection, filled with Nutella, then topped with fruits and served with whipped cream. (We would love to have more of the whipped cream!)
Our favorite from the menu though were their Nutella Eclairs. These are not you regular cream puffs topped with chocolate and passed off as eclairs; they’re the real deal. They have a slightly crunchy exterior and a mildly sweet cream filling topped with, you guessed it, Nutella.
As mentioned, everything about this place is so nicely detailed, and the takeaway bags are no exception, with quirky and memorable one-liners, ideal for gifting a loved one.
Another awesome thing to look forward to is the under construction sitting area for families and the Nutella Sundae. Soon, the owners plan to serve you sundaes in Nutella jars, and that my friends is as good as it gets. Remember, you heard it first here!
As you can probably guess, we’re in love with The Nutella Spot, and will be sure to come back very soon. It may even become our favorite spot for desert from now on!
