This pretty creature has been in trouble so much due to external factors lately that everyone has forgotten how flawless it is in reality. From the beautiful new and modern infrastructure to ancient eye catching heritage sites of Pakistan, everything is mesmerizing! And not to forget, the finger lickin’ delicious foods and special dishes add the cherry on the top.

Here are a few of the legendary heritage sites of Pakistan and their foodie specialty that every foodie must try at least once in their life time.

Saidpur Village

Saidpur Village is a very famous heritage site of the capital. People from all over the world come to see this beauty. The reason is the blend of different cultures and diverse ethnicities that lies in the heart of Saidpur Village. A mosque, a temple and a gurdwara all together are present there which represents the folklore, history and heritage of this five hundred year old village.  The village was taken under consideration in 2006 and in 2008; and Saidpur was converted into one of the prettiest sights of the capital.

Now the new Saidpur Village has a number of restaurants and cafes that offer amazing food and attracts tourists. Des Pardes, Andaz Restaurant, Café 99, The Polo Lounge, Tirah Restaurant, Hotspot and other food counters are there in the village.

Saif-ul-Mulook Lake

Lake Saif-ul-Mulook is known as ‘Heaven on Earth’ in Pakistan because of its immense beauty and serenity that is the oldest and richest of all natural wonders of Pakistan. Greenish-blue crystal clean freezing water with giant glaciers embracing it from every corner reflects the divine nature of this lake. It is situated in the northern end of Kaghan Valley near Naran. Saif-ul-Mulook Lake is famous because of its folk tales that have been a part of our culture since forever. The story revolves around the prince, Saif ul Mulook, and his love story with a fairy princess, Badi ul Jamal, who are told to be still living in this lake and dancing above the surface of the water on every 14th night of the lunar month.

What’s in the food?

There are no proper restaurants or cafes there so people take care of their eatery all by themselves. Saif-ul-Mulook is famous for its trout fish. The tourists go fishing and catch trout fish while cooking them there live and eating them in the low temperature of the valley.

Badshahi Masjid

Badshahi Masjid is the second largest mosque of Pakistan situated in the city of Lahore in Punjab. It was built by the sixth Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb Alamgir and is renowned as the eighth largest mosque in the world in terms of the accommodation of worshippers. It is rich in its historical culture and infrastructure as well, which makes it a big attraction for tourists around the globe. There is no tourist who visits Pakistan and does not visit Badshahi Masjid.

What’s in the food?

Since Badshahi Masjid connects to the famous red light area of Lahore, known as the Diamond Market, it has a variety of famous food items. The most famous is Phajjay Kay Payye (the feet of goat). These are served with naan (flatbread) straight out of the tandoor (oven), all warm and fresh!

Cuckoo’s Den, a restaurant, is itself a heritage site of Lahore. People around the globe flock towards this place because of the fame it has embraced in such a short period of time. Cuckoo’s Den is not just a restaurant, it is historical in itself. The reason is that it is situated in the historic proportions of Lahore including Badshahi Masjid and The Lahore Fort.  Not only this, but Cuckoo’s Den is situated in the middle of the famous red light area of Lahore, also known as Heera Mandi or The Diamond Market. And the owner himself is closely related to the aura of this place because he belonged to a family of sex workers of Heera Mandi. Cuckoo’s Den offers the typical desi Pakistani Cuisine that steals the show. Their famous dishes include Chicken tikka, Tawa Chicken and mutton chops.

Chiniot is a small city of Punjab renowned for its high quality architecture that is only present in Chiniot and not in any other city of Pakistan. Tourists interested in carvings and engravings of wood visit Chiniot to see the exceptional wood furniture, magnificent mosques, places and buildings.

What’s in the food?

Chiniot has a very special dish known as Kunna Gosht (mutton stew). Kunna Gosht is a nihari-like mutton curry cooked in a clay pot under a ground level. It is made by a special mixture of spices and aroma that it catches from the clay pot which gives it an earthy aroma and taste.
