Last week, I decided to have something very desi, simple and more traditional food, so I decided to try this restaurant named “Rakaposhi”. Rakaposhi, located in Seher Commercial Phase 7 is known as a place for well-defined traditional Desi and Chinese food.  It’s been only 2 years for Rakaposhi in the Karachi food market and it has managed to create a place in the hearts of food lovers.  Anyone living in Defense, Karachi can easily find this restaurant in Seher Commercial, in the same lane as Burger Shack and Café Khouso. I went to Rakaposhi to have dinner and found the whole ambiance completely cozy and quite homely. The entire setup of the restaurant was simple yet beautiful. It is a small restaurant, having a seating of 15-20 people at a time that also offers food delivery services.

Rakaposhi Restaurant is named after the Rakaposhi Mountain in the Karakorum mountain range of Pakistan and states its slogan as “The height of Pakistani Cuisine”. It felt like I was having food at my home. On the walls are some beautiful paintings of mountains and furniture, giving that homely feeling. Their customer service is very satisfying and friendly. The owner of the restaurant is basically from Karachi, but mostly manages it from outside of Pakistan.

Rakaposhi is the best place to have Desi food, such as Daal, Achari bhindi, Aloo gosht, Pilau, Biryani and mix sabzi. Rakaposhi also offers very delicious Chinese, barbecue, seafood, Karahi, Handi, pasta and steak as well in such a nominal amount that you can’t stop yourself from going back to have lunch and dinner once in a week. We experienced the best part when we sat down to eat at the Rakaposhi restaurant and I was told that it is their 2nd anniversary today and they are offering 50% off on the main courses in the menu. We ordered Daal makhni, Achari bhindi, biryani, mixed sabzi and chanay ki daal ka halwa. Everything tasted perfect as it was served steaming hot and fresh.

Particularly daal makhni, which tasted heavenly and was finger licking good. Achari bhindi was my favorite pick and is the dish you cannot miss when visiting Rakaposhi.
