The blessings of this holy month are innumerable. But from a domestic point of view, the best thing about Ramazan is that the whole family gets to sit together to eat two whole meals in a very blessed setting, and well, in today’s day and age that’s really something 🙂

And as much as we all enjoy staying at home, being all lazy during the fasts, there is something really special about going out and having iftar at the exact same time as a restaurant full of people (and of course, it goes without saying, that not having to cook or help out in iftar preparation once in a while is a bonus!).

This year too, many eateries have come up with great deals for iftar; where you can eat to your heart’s content (not necessarily your stomach’s) and enjoy a variety of dishes all at once.

To avoid potential disappointment and heartbreak, we have come up with a list of the five best iftar deals in Karachi:

1. Kolachi

Our first pick, naturally, is Kolachi, as they have a reputation for never EVER letting down their customers no matter what (yes, we used the word never). Even when they do make a mistake (which is quite rare), they make up for it completely right there and then – that’s how good their customer service is!

The food of course is some of the very best in K-town, and their decks are the most beautiful in all of Do-Darya. So, if you haven’t been already, go to Kolachi for iftar and thank us later.

Since they haven’t given out an official iftar buffet menu (wonder why the hush hush), it’s priced at Rs. 1,790 (plus taxes) per person. Here’s a sneak peak at some of the dishes on offer at their iftar:

Chicken Drumsticks, Lahori Fish, Fruit Chat, Channa Chat, Mexican Wings and fries.

Their dinner menu includes dishes such as:

Malai Boti, Afghani Boti, Chicken Sajji, Peshawari Chicken KarahiPaneer ReshmiHunzai Handi (A cult favorite!), Prawns Tempura, Biryani, Alfredo Pasta, Pepper Julian Style, Thai Red Curry, Beef Chili, Saalim Bakra (Stuffed Lamb Roast), Cream of Chicken Soup, Hot and Sour Soup, an assortment of naans, a dessert bar and assorted drinks.

2. Tao – Pan Asian Cuisine

Tao is a relatively new kid on the block, and has been keeping up quite well with the Joneses. We love the food here, especially their Dynamite Prawns, sushi (which sadly isn’t listed on their iftar menu) and Kindo Chicken.

So, if you’re in the mood for some serious oriental food for iftaryou can get it all, from specials to soups to a dessert for Rs. 1,495 (plus taxes) per person.

3. Café Cosmopolitan

If you’re a regular at Cosmopolitan, you know that they don’t do anything halfway. Last year, their iftar buffet was a big hit, and the place was usually packed.

This year’s menu too is full of drool-worthy dishes, and lists most of their best sellers including Prawn Wontons, Crispy Baby Snapper and their 100% Belgian Chocolate Tart. The menu also includes unlimited drinks (including their Mint Lemonade, the house favorite). With all that’s on offer, this iftar deal is one not to be missed, priced at Rs.1700 plus tax per head.

4. Bar B.Q. Tonight

The name needs no introduction. Bar B. Q. Tonight have been making a mark from their very inception, and continue to amaze customers with their delicious food and great service.

BBQ

Their all-you-can-eat iftar menu is quite extensive, and at Rs. 1,500 per head (including taxes), we feel it’s too good an offer to pass up.

We especially love their Mutton BBQ Special Mix and Reshmi Kebabs, and seeing them both included in the iftar menu makes us think the restaurant is on a mission to send all it’s patrons into a food coma!

5. Café Aylanto

Every Ramazan, Aylanto comes up with an iftar buffet menu that is designed to be the best of them all.

As soon as you enter the tastefully decorated eatery, you just know great food and exceptional service await you. They have their lows, we won’t lie, but the food is top notch. It’s the place for you especially if you’re a fan of great quality pasta and Parmesan.

Aylanto gives you a fine dining experience. So as you’d expect, the per person cost at the cafe is high – Rs. 2,195 (plus taxes) to be exact. What you get is an iftar full of items such our favorites – Sole Mediterranean and Penne Pasta.
