The best ‘food’ thing about the streets of New York are the unlimited food street carts. Did i mention most of them are Halal? If you are in New York for a short trip, more focused towards visiting all the landmarks; you will eat enough Gyros to last you a life time 😀 They are cheap. quick and amazing to taste. You can have the whole platter with rice or just in a pita pocket.  Gyros and hot dogs are available readily whether it is near Times Square, the Central Park, or National Museum for Natural History.

Yes, ofcourse I had to try it out and like all my first time experiments it turned out great! I would love to try the lamb version soon. That is surely the real deal!

  • 6-8 skinless chicken thigh fillets
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 Lemon Juice
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

  • Iceberg Lettuce Shredded
  • Tomatoes
  • Onions
  • Tzatziki Sauce
  • Pita Bread

  • Heat the grill pan and coat it with olive oil
  • Add the chicken strips and let it cook ; almost 3 minutes each side
  • Warm the Pita bread on both sides and add grilled chicken, and top it with all the veggies.
  • You can also grill onions and tomatoes for an added flavor. Though I like the fresh taste and crunch of the veggies.
  • Add a generous spoon of Tzatziki Sauce. Recipe Here
