Dahi Baingan (Brinjal with Yogurt)- Simple yet Divine

Over the last few years I have developed a taste for eating Brinjal (Baingan)- a vegetable, as a child most of us hated!

Brinjal With Yogurt

Brinjal With Yogurt

One dish that’s inspired by an Iranian dish and cooked so nicely by my mom is Dahi Baingan (Brinjal with Yogurt). Its a great variety in many of Baingan Raita dishes i would love to cover

Here are the ingredients and the recipe

2 Brinjal- slice it round not too thick
2-3 Tbsp of oil
Red chilli powder 1 tsp
Salt 1Tsp
Safaid Zeera (cumin seeds) 1tsp
Tomatoes sliced.

Put all the above ingredients in a pan and cover it. After 5-7 mins Brinjal pieces will become soft. The tomatoes will leave some water.

Keep stirring it till you feel the Brinjal are cooked and water has evaporated. Taste it to check spices.

Take plain yogurt in a bowl, add some salt and pepper. Put the cooked Brinjal on top of the yogurt. Make sure to add little bit of left out oil too onto the yoghurt.

Garnish  with died green chilies.

Simple yet divine in taste!

What is your favourite dish of Brinjal?
